Sometimes you may create a journal and then find that it is no longer required. When this happens you can cancel the journal.
Journals need to be taken back to status 10 in order to be cancelled. Journals with status 60, cannot be cancelled.

CANCELLING A JOURNAL
Go to finance & administration module > general ledger sub-menu > journals
In the list tab > select the journal you want to cancel > then click on the journal entry tab
All the lines in the journal entry need to be deleted before you can cancel a journal.
Click on the top line > click CTRL on your keyboard > click on the last line to select all lines
Click the delete all selected journal entry button
In the pop-up > click delete
Go back to the list tab > select the journal entry you want to cancel
Click the cancel journal button
In the pop-up > click yes
Your journal will now show as cancelled
