The scrum board view provides resource managers, studio managers, team leads, scrum masters and the like, the ability to view and manage tasks and sprints. This article covers how scrum masters can view the scrum board, assign resources and effort to tasks etc.

To access the scrum board go to scheduling > schedule overview > scrum board.

ON THIS PAGE YOU WILL FIND:


CREATE A SPRINT

Sprints are created via the scrum board sub menu in the scheduling module.

To create a sprint:

  • Go to scheduling module > schedule overview > scrum board

  • Go to the scrum sprint overview tab > click the scrum sprint setup button

  • Click create a new scrum sprint button

  • In the grid, complete the following details:

    • Name of the sprint

    • Start date

    • End date

    • Scrum responsible - individual responsible for the delivery of the sprint

    • Team responsible - team members responsible for the delivery of the sprint

Scrum responsible & Team responsible can be used as filters in the different scrum board views.

  • Once the the sprint details are complete, it is now available to be selected


ADD ITEMS/TASKS TO A SPRINT

To add tasks to a sprint :

  • Go to scheduling module > schedule overview > scrum board

  • In the scrum sprint overview tab > there is backlog column with tasks that have yet to be assigned a sprint

  • Select a task from the backlog column > drag it into the sprint column

Tip: use the CTRL key to select multiple tasks and drag them to the sprint.

  • Repeat steps above until you have all the relevant tasks moved to your sprint


RANK SPRINT ITEMS/TASKS

You can rank items/tasks on sprints by dragging and dropping them into a new position within the sprint.

  • Go to scheduling module > schedule overview > scrum board

  • Go to the scrum board tab > select a sprint from the drop down menu

  • You can drag and drop items/tasks into a new position within the same column or…

  • drag and drop items/tasks into a new status column e.g. work in progress

Tip: use the CTRL key to select multiple tasks and drag them into place.


ADD RESOURCES TO A SPRINT TASK

To add resources to a sprint task:

  • Go to scheduling module > schedule overview > scrum board

  • Click the scrum board tab > select a sprint from the drop-down

  • Click the add resources button > select the resource you wish to add to a task

Tip: the search field can be used to quickly find the resource you’re after.

  • Drag the resource onto the task you wish to assign them

  • In the task dialogue pop-up:

    • Review the tasks details such as job, task, period and duration

    • Review the number of free hours of the assigned resource

    • Complete the booking field, with the number of hours you wish to assign to the resource for this task

  • Click ok


ASSIGN EFFORT TO TASKS

You can assign effort to each item/task via the task card.

  • Go to scheduling module > schedule overview > scrum board

  • Go to the scrum board tab > select a sprint from the drop down menu

  • Double click on the item/task name to open the task card or…

  • …select the item/task > then click the open task card button

  • In basic settings > basic settings tab > enter a numerical value in the effort field

In WorkBook, the effort is a number where decimals are rounded off to the nearest tenth.
