This configuration only be used for WorkBook release 13.0 and before. For WorkBook Release R13.1 please use please refer to the article (TBC).

WorkBook integrates with Microsoft OneDrive for Business for document storage. This guide takes you through setup and configuration, plus testing and troubleshooting the connection.

Please notify your implementation consultant if you plan to use Office 365 as your storage provider, otherwise authentication will fail.

Certain characters are not allowed in SharePoint so you may see errors relating to this when you run a test.

REQUIREMENTS


INSTALLATION & CONFIGURATION

Before you start the configuration, please note you will need system administrator rights in both WorkBook and Office 365 to complete the installation. The specific user must have full access to the SharePoint site that will host the files WorkBook automatically creates and manages.

Within WorkBook go to:

  • Settings > folders, reports & documents > storage, and folders setup

  • Select the 3rd item “storage provider

  • Create a new storage provider

  • Create a new storage provider using the “add entry” icon

  • Select type “Office 365 SharePoint” from the dropdown menu (as shown in the image below)

At the bottom of the view fill out the following details:

  • ServiceEndpointUri: the full address to your SharePoint site suffixed with /_api/

  • ServiceResourceId: the domain of your SharePoint installation prefixed with https://

For example:

ServiceEndpointUri: https://bytangram.sharepoint.com/_api/
ServiceResourceId: https://bytangram.sharepoint.com

  • Once the Endpoint and ResourceId is filled out within WorkBook you can go ahead and press the authenticate icon

  • In the pop-up window (make sure you have enabled pop-ups in your browser) and enter the Microsoft details for your administrative account and press Next

  • Once authenticated you are good to go!

    • You can now enable Office 365 and perform a test to make sure the integration is working as intended.


TESTING

Once you have enabled Office 365 and completed the authentication you can test the solution to ensure the connection is established.

  • To test the connection, click on the test storage provider icon and run test


TROUBLESHOOTING

IT DOESN’T AUTHENTICATE

Have you informed your implementation consultant that you are using Office 365 as your storage provider in WorkBook? If not, please inform them so that connection can be setup correctly.

MY TEST CONNECTION FAILS

The test may fail due to certain characters not allowed in SharePoint.

If your failed testing results are unrelated to the above, it might be due to incorrect setup, please revisit the options above. If you are still stuck, feel free to contact our support team directly. We will be happy to help you move forward.

NOTHING SHOWS UP IN THE BOTTOM GRID

When you create a new storage provider the bottom grid might not update instantly. If you don’t see anything, please either refresh the page or navigate to a different storage provider and back again. This will refresh the grid and show the settings for it.
