UPDATING TRANSLATIONS - Via User Interface

In my settings > language WorkBook also allows you to custom translate directly from the User Interface which is linked to the main Custom Translation menu under Settings module. This is done via the access rights control window, hence only System Administrator has the permission to update the custom language using this functionality.

This is a very useful functionality to update the custom translation as it allows you to identify specific windows/views that you want to update with your custom texts.

Note

This functionality can only be accessed by System Administration role.

  • Go to My settings > Language & formatting options >

  • click on Access override control panel

  • A pop-up window 'Element access right selectory' will display.

  • Identifying and click on the view that you want to update your custom texts from the list.

  • By hovering your mouse-pointer to each view from the list, WorkBook will highlight the corresponding view with a light blue color.

  • Once you could identified the view, clicking on it to open the new window that allows you to input your translation.

  • From the new pop-up window, go to tab “Element Custom Translation”

    • (1) Select the language that you want to update with custom texts.

    • (2) Search for the name or label that you want to update (or you can also find it from the list)

    • (3) Enter the custom text into column ‘Custom Translation’

    • Repeat the steps for other names or labels that you want to update.

    • (4) Once done, click on the Update button to apply the changes.

UPDATING TRANSLATIONS - Via Export and Import functionality

A custom translation can be exported from one system and import into the other. This is helpful when you want to test the custom translation view from a test system before deploying it into your production system.

Export Once exported, Custom Translation

  • Go to Settings module > Advanced tools > Custom translation

  • Select the language that you would like to export (1)

  • Click the export button (2)

  • WorkBook will generate a unique ID that can be used

  • for importing into the other

  • systems.

  • Copying this unique ID to use later when running the import.

This ID can’t be retrieved again once the dialog is closed. You will need to generate a new ID instead.

ImportCustom Translation

  • From the destination system, Go to Settings module > Advanced tools > Custom translation

  • Click the Import button to start importing data.
